Introduction
Hi, I’m Lucia.
I’m half German and half Ecuadorian, and I’ve been lucky to have called several countries home, including Spain, Italy, the USA, and the Netherlands. Growing up between cultures and languages shaped the way I see people and the world. It taught me to stay curious, appreciate different perspectives, and look beyond what we see on the surface.
My journey into psychology actually began with music. As a music therapist, I worked with people with traumatic brain injuries, developmental disabilities, and dementia. This experience taught me that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Sometimes connection comes through conversation, sometimes through creativity, and sometimes simply through feeling understood. Most importantly, it taught me to see the person before the diagnosis.
This curiosity about people eventually led me to psychology, where I developed a deeper understanding of the many factors that shape who we are and how we experience the world. My journey through psychology has also given me a greater appreciation for the connection between our mind, body, and inner world, and how each influences the way we experience life. I believe that truly understanding a person means looking at these different aspects together, rather than seeing them in isolation.
Throughout my own life and experiences, I have learned the importance of compassion, openness, and feeling truly heard without judgement. These values are at the heart of how I approach my work. I strive to create a space that feels safe, welcoming, and genuine, a place where you can be yourself and feel accepted for who you are.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. We can start where you are.
About my approach
My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and grounded in genuine curiosity. I want therapy to feel like a safe space where you can be yourself, speak openly, and explore what’s going on without fear of judgement. For me, a genuine and trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapy.
I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), while adapting our work to you rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. With my background in music therapy, I also make room for creativity when helpful, as sometimes we can express or understand things in ways that words alone cannot quite reach.
When appropriate, I also bring the body into our work. I believe the mind, body, and inner world are closely interconnected, and that our experiences can influence us in ways that are not always accessible through thoughts alone. Paying attention to the body can help us notice patterns, emotions, and responses that may otherwise remain outside of our awareness.
Having lived in different countries and worked with people from diverse backgrounds, I value cultural awareness and openness to different perspectives. I’m interested in understanding your world, your experiences, and what has shaped you.
Ultimately, I see therapy as something we do together: a space to slow down, become more aware of yourself and your patterns, and find meaningful ways of moving forward.
