Introduction
Hi, I’m Benedicta.
I am a 31-year-old psychologist, born and raised in the Netherlands with Ghanaian roots.
I chose psychology because I’ve always been curious about people and what lies beneath the surface. I wanted to understand why we think, feel and behave the way we do, how our experiences shape us, and how these experiences can influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
I work with young adults and adults, and what I value most in my work is creating a space where people feel genuinely seen, heard and understood. I believe there is always a story behind our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and I enjoy helping people explore that story, understand themselves on a deeper level and recognise patterns that may be holding them back.
For me, therapy is about connection, curiosity and creating a safe space where you can be completely yourself without judgement. It’s a privilege to walk alongside people as they gain insight, grow in self-understanding and work towards meaningful change.
About my approach
For me, therapy is about having a space where you can be completely yourself. You don’t need to have the right words, know exactly what’s wrong, or have everything figured out. Sometimes you just know that something doesn’t feel right, and having someone beside you to help make sense of it can make a real difference.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, low mood, depressive symptoms, health anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. What matters to me is not just looking at the symptoms, but getting to know you as a person and understanding what might be happening underneath them. Our relationships, families, friendships, work, and past experiences can shape us in ways we don’t always realise.
My approach is warm, open, and down-to-earth. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all way of doing therapy, so I adapt our sessions to you. I draw from approaches such as CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy, but I also make sure there is space simply to talk, explore, and understand yourself better.
I’m not here to tell you how to live your life or give you all the answers. I see my role as walking alongside you for a while, helping you understand what you’re feeling, recognise patterns that may be holding you back, and find ways of coping and moving forward that feel right for you.
Most importantly, I want you to feel that you can come as you are.
